November By Mariam Ahmed

I was transfixed, my tears falling freely

I touched the hospital gown lightly

and placed butterfly wings on

her fingers, she flew away gently

A smile shaped her lips later

Inside, I was torn asunder

Fall has arrived and I miss her

Blue and white roses this November.
